How can a frontend user place a link to another K2 user and avatar when writing a new item?

I would like to provide a way for frontend users to create a "pedigree" item where they can show their ancestry with links and avatars to other existing K2 users.

I've installed the JCE editor but it does not work completely with K2 so I am using Joomla CK editor.

If they can see the users page in question, copy the url and use it for a link

Thank you William, I've tried this and it works OK for placing a link to the K2 user page, but I haven't been able to place the avatar in an item.

Plus its a little complicated for the average user.

I was hoping for a solution similar to CB where you can just type something like {member}Member Name{\member} in the item and the K2 user avatar gets placed in the item.
