I have done the same thing with rsforms before. I cannot remember exactly what it did, but i would start by trying the standard syntax
$this->item->extraFields->EXTRAFIELDALIASHERE->value
and inserting it into the area of the form designed for code

When the rs form was plugged into the k2 item, i think there was a place in rsform that you could enter custom php code. As i recall i put the item title into the form so people could inquire about "this" item
