I have added a few extra fields. If the field is a Text field type, then the field is hidden when it is left empty. That is great. But if the type is Link then the field wil not be hidden if it is left empty.

Is this a bug of is it supposed to work this way? And is there a solution to hide the field if left empty?

Found it. In case others have the same problem, this is what I did.

You need to make sure that everything is empty in the extra field. In case of a link there is a Text field and a URL field. The URL field has as default already http:// in it. You need to clear that as well. Then the field will be hidden on the frontend.

Is there a way to remove the 'http://' from the link default? Everytime I try to blank it out, it returns.

You must remove it from its settings, not from inside the item form.
