items approval

I let my users manage all the contents from front-end.
Now I need a superadmin approving new items.
So I set
publish items = no
for the lower user group and
publish items = yes
for the admin group.
When the lower level user add an items it is not published as expected.
Admins can see it in the backend... but is there any way for them to publish it from the front-end?
More: Is it possible to have some kind of notification to the admin (e-mail, but also a message inside the personal page or anywhere in the front-end)?
This way it is impossibile for the admins of a large site see if there are new contents to approve...
(But I don't know if there is something wrong in my settings)
Thanks in advance.

I'm facing the same issue. I would like to get an email notification when an item has been submitter and requires approval. How can notification be implemented? - fred
