with j 3.o
Back up your site first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!akeeba is very good
when you uninstall k2 all of your k2 items, categories etc should be deleted
goto extension manager
click manage on left
set filter at top of column to k2
you will see k2 which is a component
tick the box and then uninstall

William, I appreciate your taking a shot at this...,

Perhaps I am missing something; however, here is the root problem - I do not see my "Extension Manager". When I enter the back administration panel, I am presented with the K2 dashboard. I do not see any of the 'Joomla' icons that I am used to seeing..., including the extension manager.

Have I somehow toggled the admin dashboard to show only the K2 dashboard??

I would like to learn the usage of K2 but am reticent to go forward without being able to see my 'stock' Joomla admin panel.

I do appreciate the help.,

Hi jdnahas,

Strange problem you have there, I've never seen where you loose the Joomla Admin functions before, If you have access to your Database I would use Phpmyadmin to set all the K2 references in your _extensions table to enabled = 0.

You should then regain Joomla Admin Functions and uninstall as mentioned above.

I would advise you to backup your database or use Akeeba as William advised if necessary.

Thank You for the help...

Status:

I am new to K2 and I am certain I have toggled something which has closed out my view to the Joomla admin icons which normally show themselves upon completed admin sign in and the admin dashboard appears.

I am now at a total loss as I cannot go into extensions and turn off K2 in order that I can see where the mistake was made. All access to extensions manager is gone... :(

I am reviewing the K2 documentation now; however, I cannot find answer. Only access will be into cPanel.

Yeh that's where I'm talking about, I presume your talking about your Web Host Cpanel, if so you will more than likely have access to Php myadmin, with which you can access your database, find the _extensions table click browse and edit any table row with K2 in the Name such as K2 Comments, K2 Content etc. Then on each one click the pencil Icon to edit, you will see that for the field ENABLED will be set to 1 change this to 0 to disable it. I am not sure exactly which K2 row needs to be set 0, so it's probably easier to set all rows that have K2 in the name to 0.

After doing this you should then have your normal joomla admin access, then you can uninstall K2 as mentioned above.

Peter,

I will attempt this remedy now. I have been hesitant as I am not a database expert; however, I am at witts end to resolve this issue... :(

Stay tuned as I see the 5 or 6 lines .. all with K2 in the heading.

In the breadcrums at the top should be something like this - localhost » your_host_name » tableprefix_extensions.

did you click browse on the _extensions table ?
