Upgrade k2 was created by Shiv240
Hello Everyone,

I have Joomla 1.5 platform and using k2 for joomla 1.5. Now I want to ask that can we upgrade "ONLY K2" to 2.x series by just keeping my platform at joomla 1.5.

Is there any way to do so. I searched a lot but no solution.
Help Required Urgently.

Thanks.

Joomla Version is 1.5.23 and for backup we manually take it with the help of filezilla. I don' t know the current K2 version

Thanks

Backup your site First! Do Not uninstall K2
Update joomla to the latest 1.5 version
Goto K2 control panel and scroll to the bottom. You should see the k2 version number there
Since there have been lots of changes in it would be best to know what version of k2 you have and what version you want to go to before proceeding
Backup Backup Backup.....do you use akeeba?
their support for 1.5 has ended but i think the compatiable files are still available akeebabackup.com

Hello William,
Thanks for your quick response.
Right now I am using K2's v2.4.1 and my joomla version is 1.5.23. Also now i want to upgrade my joomla 1.5 site to 2.5 version. So,
* still is it necessary to upgrade my joomla 1.5 to latest version and then to 2.5 or i can directly do it from 1.5 to 2.5 ???
No, i take my backup through filezilla. Never used Akeeba.

* Though i will try to follow all your step but just in case my upgradation fails then can i re-upload the backup-ed data to the domain to make my site running as before??

Thanks
Shiv

Have you restored your site before?
I would put the site on localhost and test it before doing it on the live site

You can take a look at this tutorial on how to upgrade Joomla 1.5 to 2.5 (it works without the need to update to the latest ver. of 1.5).
