The images of the k2 items are deleted after a time. The media/k2/items/cache folder is empty. My site is in joomla version 2.5.7 and K2 is K2 v2.5.7

This might come a bit late but I had the same problem, suddenly my media/k2/items/cache folder emptied and all images disappeared from my site so I changed the code as per these instructions and the images are rebuild in case they get lost again:

there's also a plugin that rebuilds the images here
styleware.eu/store/item/38-mass-resize-of-k2-images-including-crop
but I had K2 version 2.4.1 and I wasn't sure if it would run on my version so I didn't try it
