500 Internal Server Error was created by Valentina Furno
Greetings. I just installed K2 on a joomla 1.6 vers.
After installing, I got blank page (Internal Server Error) both in index and administration panel.
Can you help me in solving this?

Hello Valentina,
Joomla! 1.6 is no longer supported you should upgrade to Joomla 2.5.x or Joomla 3.0.x asap.
For the time being grab an older 2.5 version of K2 from here and replace the remote files through FTP.
Regards.

It's ok to use this?
K2 v2.5.4 (stable) for Joomla! 1.5 - 1.7
--
uploading the files didn't change the situation. Is there a way to disable the component from mysql?

Since the uploading did not help you,
the safest thing to do is to contact your hosting provider and try to restore a backup.
Sorry for this but Joomla! 1.6 and 1.7 are not supported.

I don't think there's a backup... and this website is not mine but of a client of mine. That's why I'm so worried.
There's no way to disable k2 from the database?

Ouch...
Since you don't have a backup there is little to be done.
You can try some of the following.
Manually FTP'ing and replacing ALL of K2's files (try this one more time with K2 2.5.7).
Setup a new Joomla 2.5 or 3.0 installation with the latest K2 and migrate all the content and the template.
The latter is the best option in my opinion
If you start dropping tables from the DB I dont think that will solve the issue
Before doing any of these remember to always have a recent backup of your site.

There's one thing I don't understand. The installation does not seem to affect other files on the server (such as templates or config files).
In fact, If I open the ftp, I can see (thanks to the time of last edit) that the only files changed are those of k2.
It seems more a database error than a file one. Am I wrong?

My suggestion is,
since J!1.6 is no longer supported and it hasn't been for a long time you should upgrade asap.
Think of all the possible security issues.
If you do not wish to upgrade try the jos_components and jos_plugins tables but I am not certain if can restore your site without losing content or causing even more damage.

The problem is that there were other datas in this website. I'd prefer to recover them and then upload to a recent vers.
To be honest, I already use joomla 2.5 for my websites.
Let's hope it will work...
