I'm using the this template www.templatemonster.com/demo/40885.html, where the thumbnail images on the bottom of the Main Page link to full articles. Is there any way to unlink the images so that they don't link to the full articles?

You need to edit the override of the K2 Content module, for further info I think the template developers will be able to assist you.
