K2 Media Manager - can it have more than one root was created by delleray
Hi,
I'm new to k2...
i would like to have more than one 'root' viewable in k2's media manager rather than just under 'images'.
I probably would want to store directories under 'assets' as per the joomla one. It doesn't seem possible to change the base directory from 'images' in K2 Media Manager.
I was looking at elFinder and there is a way shown there but the connections.php doesn't exist in the k2 elfinder library - or am i missing something?
github.com/Studio-42/elFinder/wiki/Multiple-Roots
thanks in advance
d.

Hello delleray,
I wouldn't hack elFinder in your position. You can however change the root folder from Joomla!'s media manager. K2's media manager will automatically inherit the new root folder.

Krokor,
thanks but i'm happy coding (with a diff checker)
however you have the answer.. worked a treat... thks
a follow up..
why does media manager not follow symlinks ? (shows as 'broken alias' but cmd line dir access is fine)
i.e. have /images as the real images directory in the web root (keeps joomla! etc happy) and have a /assets for user related files (pdfs etc) with loads of sub folders. Then have a symlink from /assets/images to /images.
This works with joomla! media manager but not in k2 media manager

Krikor,
Thanks for the link. that explains why the symlink doesn't work :( .
it's outside of the media 'root' but inside the web/joomla 'root'.
Goes back to
"can K2 media manager have a paraemter to set a 'secondary' root other than the joomla derived root at some time in the future please using the feature in elFinder 2.x "?
thks

delleray,
It has been fixed in the SVN version if you are comfortable working with it, there is a link to download it on the homepage.
PS. Always backup first.

Terribly sorry for this one,
Replied to the wrong thread... Happens if you have 234 open tabs.
Sorry about giving you false hope, since this is a security feature elFinder can't have multiple root folders.
