How to show unpublished items to publisher/admin

I have noticed that if a item "Author" who does not have publishing rights modify a item, then it
automatically gets unpublished.

Unfortunately this unpublished item is not visible for Admin or publisher from front end.
A user with backend login permission has to login into the admin panel, go to k2 items and change state to "unpublished" or "all" to view this item.

Is there a way to show these unpublished items in its respective category as "unpublished" beside the "edit item" link so that frontend publisher or admin can publish this item?

I feel this is an very important feature, because the frontend editing is simple and straight forward and easy for publishers with less technical background.

Hello Thomas, unpublished items are only visible and editable from the author's page, and each author can see only his unpublished items.

Item sorting is only accessible through the backend for security reasons.

Hi, This happens to be my problem also..I need a front end publisher for K2, which seems to be not a feature of K2..Publishers will still be logging in from the back-end to publish the articles..Don't you have any solution for this?or are there extensions K2 recommend for the purpose. THanks guys.

Hello Dexter,

You can create a new user group and manage its permissions so the user will never access something he shouldn't have.

I've created a new user group that allows editing of any article. There's a option in the user group section 'Edit any item'.
But the question is: how do I make unpublished items visible to a publisher / user assigned to this group, that doesn't have access to the backend of my site. It seems he can only edit already published items.

@Steven Trooster

In front-end a user can see only his own unpublished items by going to his user page. If you want to have a user moderate your items you need to give him backend access. You can give him only backend access for K2 and not allow him to access any other component. This can be done with the Joomla! permissions system.

That is an option, but... I only want the publisher edit and publish K2 items, I don't want the publisher to have access to categories, extra fields or users & user groups.
Furthermore I would like have different publishers to have access to different item-categories. I.e. the publisher for section A on our site, should only be able to access/edit category A articles. And publisher B only B articles. Can one set these permissions for the administrator area of your site?

Yes i think you can do this using the native permissions system. You need to set the permissions under K2 parameters. The permissions you see there apply to items. For the rest sections tags, extra fields etc. user must have the " Configure " permission in order to access them. Not quite sure though. You need to try first.
