K2 feed link not working was created by Abe Connally
I have seen this brought up a few times on the forum, but no fixes, and it is really bothering me.
So, yesterday, I updated to K2 v2.6.6 on a Joomla 2.5.11 site. I don't have any SEF or SEO plugins/components/etc installed.
Before the update, my rss links worked fine.
After the update, when you click on the rss feed link, it goes to the HTML page, instead of the XML:
velacreations.com/blog.feed
I edited category.php to make it work, basically added ?format=feed to the end of the link to make it work.
The problem is, I have thousands of RSS subscribers on the old link (blog.feed).
So, what did K2 change and why is this not working all of a sudden?

Hello Abe,
From what I see in your site you are using a commercial template. These templates provide template overrides for K2. The problem lies with your overrides and not K2 changing anything in it's recent versions.
Finally before doing any major upgrades you should backup first and read the appropriate blog posts to find out if there are template file changes.

It's hardly a template override that makes it so the feed link is no longer functional.
It was functional right before the update to K2, so that is what changed, and there's where the problem exists.
Here's the problem, the link www.velacreations.com/blog.feed returns an HTML page, not the XML feed.
Why won't K2 address this issue?

To get this to work, I just modified my .htaccess file. I added the following:
RewriteRule blog.feed blog.feed?format=feed
While not perfect (it doesn't address the core issue of the K2 feed link not working), it works for now.
