I have just created a k2 item and also Joomla Menu K2 Category menu item, I am getting the following url
Link
I would like to make it a bit more SEF friendly is there a way to remove the { item/63- ] part of the url.
Settings Joomla 2.5.11, K2 2.6.6
Joomla SEF
Search Engine Friendly URLs = yes
Use URL rewriting = Yes
Adds Suffix to URL = Yes
K2 Parameters Advanced settings
Enable advanced SEF for K2 URLs = No
I have tried creating a hidden Joomla K2 Menu Item but this didn't help. I would prefer not to use a 3rd part sef extension.
Thx in advance Pete.

You need to enable the advanced SEF settings in order to strip the item part. I would leave the ID in, in your position.

Set Enable advanced SEF for K2 URLs to Yes to remove /item
Set Use the item ID in the URL to No to remove ID
ex: vietpublic.net/services/application-server-deployment.html

do you mean setting the id not to appear?
how fast these changes get active?

Hi Krikor, I just want clarify this, in a url like this (our-blog/item/63-restaurant-website-seo-search-engine-optimization.html) is the (/item/63-) part still regarded as SEF by Search Engines ? because I do have sh404sef but it's a bit off a hassle to use and I would rather create content instead of wasting time with pointless SEF ?Krikor Boghossian wrote: Hello Peter,

I am no SEO expert but I am pretty sure that /item/63- will not harm SEO in any way.
Item shows that you are on a single post and I think Google prefers a unique ID.

Thx Krikor, I just wanted to make sure once & for all, I thought as much "I noted a lot of pretty big sites leave it in"
