I have a strange problem - my joomla reports me that is a update ready from my 2.6.0 to 2.6.7 ??
So i install it but whe i try to add new article it show me a blank page with 500 error.

Can you tell me what it is a problem ?

You have to turn on error reporting to see what the actual error is.

I'd have to install the new version and it causes an error 500 - so I do not want to do that, because the instability of the new K2.

and the error is - error 500 and link "back to main ..."

The 500 is a very general error code, it is impossible to guess the actual error and the file causing it without a description. It could be a dozen things, wrong PHP version, a third party component, your template just to name a few.

Same here. Updated my k2 2.6.6 site to 2.6.7 as it notified me there was a update. Gives the 500 error when trying to add or edit a article. Had to downgrade back to 2.6.6.

Clicking "Add New Item" or trying to edit a item gives the following error page with debug on.

So now you have a answer - i will not install it because it is not a stable version - please check it and re upload a good version.

If you tried to update K2 on a Joomla! 3.1 site using the Joomla! update manager, you'd get a notice saying "invalid package" or similar to that.

It's fixed now. Make sure you hit "Find updates" again to refresh the K2 update file from our server.

The problem occured because there was no Joomla! 3.1 specific definition in the XML update file on our server - we had update blocks for Joomla! 2.5 and 3.0. All sorted now.

Also make sure you are not trying to upgrade on Joomla! 1.6/1.7 since these versions are not supported

in my 2.5.11 joomla only stable version of K2 is v2.6.0... yesterday i try to instal once again nevest version but when i try to add new article it show me again blank page with info "Error 500" and back to main menu - thats all...

so i instal 2.6.0 and it look that i need to stay with it.....

Try again but not through the update manager, try installing it on top. Get the .zip file from the index page and go to extensions -> Extension Manager -> Install adn upload it.

Since you are using an older version of K2 your overrides will probably need some upgrading as well. (Possibly register and profile.php and the mod_k2_user module)

PS. always backup first.

The truth is I have tested it with multiple of 2.5.11 sites and all updated without a hassle so I wiil need some more information on your setup since I will try to reproduce the error.

Which version of PHP are you using?
What other extensions are you using?
Is your site native 2.5.x or it started as a 1.7.x?

Sorry for sounding a bit like a Gestapo Officer but I want to reproduce the error.

Dear all, hello. I confirm the exact same error too. Joomla 2.5.11 with K2 2.6.7 (fresh install). I know 3 partners who have the exact same problem and there are several forums other than K2, where people are looking for a solution. I have found only this, but it doesn't work:

"This issue is from K2.
Please go through \administrator\components\com_k2\models.
Rename the userGroup.xml -> usergroup.xml

If you have any other question please let me know."

Please is there a fix for this?

Edit/Update:

I tried installing a fresh copy and update through Joomla extensions update and I have the exact same result on 3 different websites. I only see this error on new/edit item and new/edit category on the backend.

Dear cegi, please read my post correctly. I didn't suggest a solution. I simply pointed out that whatever I do, it is NOT WORKING.

Why isn't anybody from K2 team answering? This is a problem that trully exists.

I'm experiencing the same issue,
after upgrading from 2.6.6 to 2.6.7 i get "error 500 could not load xml file"..

I get this error when I try to create/modify a k2 item (frontend/backend)
I can confirm it occurs only after upgrading to 2.6.6 to 2.6.7
I could reproduce this exact behaviour on my test server and on my localhost (windows/xampp)

I reproduced it with last two joomla versions (2.5.13 - 2.5.14).

It seems not to be related to any server misconfiguration.

Any advice before updating on my production site would be gladly appreciated : )

I also have the same error on a Joomla 2.5.11 site. A Joomla 3.1.5 site following the K2 upgrade worked fine.
On the 2.5.11 site I re-installed K2 in the Extension Manager but still have the error.

Same error - new site running Joomla 2.5.14 just installed K2 2.6.7

Have researched many different possible solutions, none of them having any impact - The usergroup.xml file is already named correctly, so no need to change it.

Thought K2 might be a good solution for a project I'm working on, guess I found the answer I was looking for...
