[SOLVED] Allow edition for author was created by VictorWizz
Hi everyone,

I want to allow edition of an item for the author (in front-end).

I create an item and declare one of my user as his author.
But when I go to the page (with my author account) I don't see the edit link. I check parameters and I allow all right for the class "Author".

Does anyone know whereshould come from the problem?

Is this Author assigned to the correct K2 user group that has access to edit items?

Hi,
thank you to answer :)

My author is not in any group.

I will have a lot of item (500) and for each, I want 1 author who can edit his own item.
If I use group I have to create 500 group isn't it ?

( Sorry for the english :/ )

You have let's say one or more categories with items which you want an author to edit, correct?

You have to create a K2 user group (K2 -> User Groups) where you will give the permission to edit items for those category/categories.
Then you have to go to K2 Users, locate your author user and assign him to the correct K2 user group. This way your author will have access to modify his items.

I will try to explain with an example :

I have my main category : "Store" with 2 sub categories : "foot" and "tennis".

In each 2 sub categories I will have 10 items :
item 1f - item 2f - item 3f . . . (in foot) ;
item 1t - item 2t - item 3t . . . (in tennis).

I have one user : Bob who is declare as author of item 1f. What I want is that he is the only one (except the admin ofc) who can edit item 1f (and Bob will not edit anything else).

The solution with group is to create, in each sub-categories, as many sub-categorie as stores :

Store
- foot
--store1f
---item 1f
--store2f
---item 2f
--store3f
---item 3f
- tennis
--store1t
---item 1t
--store2t
---item 2t
--store3t
---item 3t

But it became too complicate, I have 5 sub-categories annd 600 items in whole :/

I hope it is clearer. That why I want a simple rule such as 'an author can edit his item'.

Hello Viktor,

I can see it can be pretty overwhelming indeed. Since this is a very custom feature you have to look at the JED or at the Extend K2 section of this site for an extension that provides that sort of functionality.

Ok I solved the problem.

I create a user group 'manager', and I link it to my main category "Store" with only one option : "Edit his own element " (the 4th option).

After that I put my user in the group Manager and it's done.

Thank you for your help :)

Have a nice day
