404 Category Not Found was created by mj
Hi K2 Forum,
I'm recieving a 404 category not found error when trying to link my menu item to a k2 category when 'Search Engine Friendly URLs' are enabled. I know this has something to do with renaming the htaccess.txt file.
I noticed there already exists an .htaccess file in my root folder, am I overwriting the existing .htaccess folder? Also, do i need to Uncomment RewriteBase ? What is entailed in this particular process?
Just need some simple clarifications any help will be greatly appreciated

Hello mj,
You simply need to rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess. This file is located at the root folder of your Joomla! installation. I suggest you use the htaccess file that came with the Joomla! package.
Please note that if you are using any security extension which generates .htaccess code you will have to manually edit your .htaccess file.

Thanks for responding Krikor,
there's already an .htaccess and htaccess.txt file in my root folder, am I replacing the existing .htaccess file with the renamed htaccess.txt file?
Thanks for your time,
