I have been successful at integrating most of what I need to do with this new site I am on which will be using K2.
I am running joomla 2.5.8 and just downloaded K2 today so it is the latest version.
I have the layout grid settings to a K2 categories menu item and have checked both the category and the menu item to make sure there are two categories selected.
I have also looked thru the forum archives, but have found nothing that worked.
There is plenty of space on the page for two columns,
I added this to the k2.css as per a posting in the archive:
/* --- Global K2 container --- */
#k2Container {padding:0 0 24px 0;}
body.contentpane #k2Container {padding:16px;} /* used in popups */
#k2Container.k2_2columns .latestItemsContainer {float: left;width: 47%!important; }
#k2Container.k2_2columns .latestItemsContainer:first-child {margin-right: 50px!important; }
#k2Container.k2_2columns .latestItemsContainer + latestItemsContainer {float: right}
I have placed a k2.css in the template folder, switched templates and switched back, none of these steps have created any change.
here is the single column test page.

I must have overlooked something obvious, because everything else in K@ I have been ablke to figure out so far, but not this.
