I'm trying to get K2 category view to act in a very similar fashion to this example:

I don't believe the example uses K2 or even Joomla. I need the format to be near-exact with a year, make, model and whatever else across the top, then sorted below alphabetically with extra fields entries displayed under the respective column label at the top. Am I making sense?

You can make it into something like that. (see filter at top)

The site is in development mode and not done. But the filter does what you want, and with come css and js changes it can look exactly.

Its a combination of the k2 filter module, with some custom coding, with some more custom things :)
