Is there a way to override the tag URL so that navigates to a one URL per tag rather than multiple URLs per tag, depending upon which category the tag is listed? This is causing a lot of duplicate URLs, causing great concern for SEO of the tagging system.

EXAMPLE CONTENT ITEM - dirtarmory.com/automotive/car/subaru/wrx/1029-pricing-revealed-for-2014-subaru-wrx-sti-rally-cross-monster

Clicking the "2014" tag, which is located near the bottom of the content item, for example, we get the tag URL (automotive/car/subaru/wrx/tag/2014) specific to the item category. But, it renders results for many other categories. Worse yet, the items for other categories appear as if they are from the same vehicle category, when in fact they are not.

CONTENT ITEM BAD URL - automotive/car/subaru/wrx/1030-2014-dodge-1500-truck-rams-an-eight-speed-torqueflite-transmission-equipped-3-0-liter-diesel-beneath-the-hood

Every subsequent tag link found from other item linked to that original item references that original category, which has no relation to the other content items. Worse again, the linked categories, which differ from the original content item category referenced above, also have the same URL string but are from entirely different categories.

BAD CATEGORY URL - automotive/car/subaru/wrx/category/229-dodge-ram-1500

Here are properly rendered URLs.

GOOD CATEGORY URL - dirtarmory.com/automotive/4x4-truck-suv/dodge/
GOOD CATEGORY URL - dirtarmory.com/automotive/4x4-truck-suv/ford/

Is there a configuration setting that can be changed or is this merely a very bad bug?

I found a way that seems to have solved the issue. Essentially, you cannot create more than one K2 Category Menu Item Links within a parent item category. Otherwise, for each Joomla Menu Item linked to each category and sub-category, you'll receive multiple URLs for the same tag.

This Creates Multiple Tag URLs - When all parent- and sub-category have a Joomla Menu K2 Category link.

directory/
directory/clubs/
directory/manufacturers/
directory/shops/
directory/trails/

This Creates A Single Tag URLs - When only parent category has a Joomla Menu K2 Category link. All sub-categories are linked only through Joomla Menu External URL.

directory/

If all tags could have a Joomla Menu K2 Tag link of their own, so that all K2 tags could be routed to a single base URL, as in website.com/tag or website.com/directory/tag, we could eliminate this issue. Perhaps someone here knows how to override this through hacking of the core K2 or Joomla code. An option to route tags to one URL or multiple parent categories, publishing only those items within that parent- and sub-category structure and not items using the same tag from other parent categories, would be ideal.
