I am using K2 for the first time.
I find it to be rather confusing, and have started off with a template which includes a demo of K2 with products etc. I figured that would be easier to make changes to.

If you click on one of these categories to take you into the products listed, I am trying to display the category description above the listed products.
I have set the parameter to "show description" but it still does not display. Could you please tell me how to get this done.

Please check the category inheritance. It might inherit its settings from another category.

Also since you are new to K2 i strongly suggest you watch these videos, they will really help you.

The parent Item was set to "hide". As soon as I changed that, i can see the descriptions now.

Thank you for the video link. I will go ahead and watch that too. I am very excited to start working with K2. Seems like an amazing product that can do just about anything :)

Last question -
why does the description come up as center aligned, when in the backend it's left aligned?
Where can I change this?

This will probably has to do with css. Try locating div.itemListCategory in k2.css file (creativedev2.co.za/Jonges-Art/templates/lifestyleoutpost/css/k2.css) and remove the text-align:center.
