I am logged into both front end and back end of my website but k2 shows I am not logged in under k2/users.

Any ideas?

Are you using K2 User module for logging in?

Yes. I noticed as well that I could not toggle the feature button on items in list view. But it actually started working even though it's been on and off. Right now it is working so not sure what's going on. Maybe it will just resolve itself.

Why does it matter that we are using the K2 login module. That used to never matter, when you logged into the site the K2 had a plugin that allowed for login through Joomla or Jomsocial. Why has this changed?

K2 never had a plugin for custom login. Probably you are using a third-party extension.
