I'm new to Joomla and have just installed K2 but I'm getting this error "Fatal error: Class 'K2HelperPermissions' not found"
Can anyone help with this?

If you are using Joomla! 3.2 version you need to upgrade to K2 2.6.8 dev version through getk2.org/assets/get/
