Hi, I am new to k2. I want to create site whoch looks like as follows:

.... Electronics
..... Mobiles
..... Furniture
.City-2
.... Electronics
..... Mobiles
..... Furniture
.City-3
.... Electronics
..... Mobiles
..... Furniture

My question is i have to create repeated child categories for each and every city or is there any way to create categories which is common to all the cities.
I am not creating web commerce site. I want to display information only just like justdial.com

There are some K2 extensions that allow to add a category to multiple parent categories, I think you can find one at K2 extensions directory or JED.

Or, you can make the city as an extra field, Searchable Labels type for example, or make Electronics, Mobiles and Furniture as tags.

if i created tags then i can assign menus based on that tags.
or
shall i create extra fields for each item and by using those extra fields shall i assign menus..

Yes, you can assign menus in both tags and Searchable Labels
