k2 multiple categories display.. was created by dangelo
I want to have the following setup..

I'm using multiple categories of dvlancer.com for K2 v.2.6.7

I have set multiple views for my K2 articles,
- A - One for videos (I’m including only the articles that have video link on k2 article)
- B - One for images (I’m including only the articles that have image gallery on k2 article)
- C - And a generic one for all my articles (I’m including all my articles at one category at least) usually the native k2 category.

My problem is this:
Example: Let’s say that I have an article with Image gallery and video included.
I want to include it on all 3 categories. So far so good, everything works as it should.
On my menu, at item “Photos” witch displays 3 columns and 9 leading articles I have set the Root category of my images category’s tree. Normally (without multiple categories) it will inherit the view of the category that I’m displaying on this menu.
 BUT When I’m adding multiple categories on an item, it will inherit the view of the “native” category of K2 and not of the displayed category.
As a result it displays some articles based on one view and others with another view on “Category Item listing” page which is wrong...

Any suggestion for this?

Hello Angelos,

Is the multiple categories of dvlancer.com a custom extension?
I think you should address this issue to the extension developer in that case.

The normal behaviour is the one you said. They items should render with the default template or the template you chose in the menu item's settings.

Hm...

If i duplicate my J! template (assighning the duplicated profile to my photos category) and create ovverides for my k2 views (which will be all the same on my duplicate J! template) i will resolve my issue..

So, if I want to see my photos section (menu item) Joomla will render this:
Duplicated J! Template -> k2 Override (will be the same for all my k2 Themes)

The only thing that is negative to this is that I need to copy 2 more times my template folder

Correct?

Actually I was wrong..

It is pointless to duplicate J! template and work with overrides..

If I customize my photo tmpl override not to check for this:
$this->item->params->get('catItemImageGallery')

It should work.

For some reason it returns only the string for my gallery, it does not render it (attached image)

But k2 does not render only the one from different category..
any hints?
