[SOLVED] changing the item.php doesnt effect the site why??

[SOLVED] changing the item.php doesnt effect the site why?? was created by tali
hi
i am trying to change the html of the item page.
i made an override like this-->mysite/templates/mytemplate/html/com-k2/default/item.php
but if i just try to do some testing and write php echo some text..... nothing happens i dont see the text in my website.
also when making the same test in the original file -->mysite/component/com-k2/templates/default/item.php
also nothing happens ,what am i doing wrong? :S

Make sure from the category settings that this template is actually being used.
Also make sure you have disabled caching and you are not seeing cached content.
Finally some extensions might create their own overrides (don't ask me why) so you have to see if a K2 extensions is blocking the normal way of overriding and it is using its own method.

i have checked
1.no cache both in joomla and browser
2.no extensions
3.html/com-k2/default/item.php is the path to the override so i dont need to select anything in category/admin side.(right?)
i now work directly on the original com_k2 files just to test if there are any reactions but nothing!
i even deleted the item.php files both in the original and override files(i have a backup) still the item page still exist as is.
like he has a life of his own. :ohmy:
by the way :working on the other files in the same directory, like category.php does effect the category page.

Hi,
There are some plugins makes a redirection to their copy of item.php file and others.
Check whether you have installed one of them.
You will find the files in the plugin folder.

you are right, :lol:
its a plugin called k2multiimages whice i installed and didnt even think it could take over on the whole layout of the page.now i can edit the item page by using the plugin files.
