I am a brand new K2 user. I have created a couple of new items, and none of them show up unless I create them with the default Joomla interface. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to correct this? I will assume it's a K2 configuration issue, but so far I am stumped as to why.

You should create menu items to display K2 items and categories.
