Website with huge number of cache image files was created by Dennis Miliopoulos
Hello,
I have migrated a website from the default joomla content manager to k2. The site has more than 80000 articles and as a result the image cache ended up having more tha 300.000 files.
After communicating with the host they informed me that I cannot transfer that many files under one folder because the file system can't handle it. (Linux)
If I manage to transfer the files somehow, will the constant growth of the folder create any problems in the near future?
Thank you

Hello Dennis,
The theoretical limit is theoretical file per directory limit: 1.3 × 10²⁰ files for Ext2 and I think similar for ext3, I don't think the Linux infrastructure will cause you any issues. I can advise you in terms of hardware.
PS. I am no server expert but large folders are not an issue in proper setups.
One of my precious employers had deployed a K2 site with more that half a million items and constantly growing.

You 're welcome.
Another approach (again I am no expert) might be to use another server specifically built to host your media.
This can be done but since I am not a sysadmin I do not know how.
