k2 category to joomla template? was created by Jason Poeffel
Hello.
I am using the k2 Category view on my front page which has it's own joomla template. When I click on one of those articles in the category view to read more, it loads the same joomla tempage for the front page, rather than my joomla template for "inside" pages. Is there a way to change this?
thanks!

You can do this:

Assign the frontpage template through the menu item of your homepage and the other one through the category's parameters.

Are you talking about under the "category item layout"? If so, mine only has default listed as an option.

I'm sorry I had in mind K2 template and not Joomla! you were referring to in the first place.

In your homepage menu item select multiple categories and choose the frontpage template to use through the "Template Style" option.
Then create another menu item and choose one specific category with the inner joomla! template selected through the "Template Style" option.

Not sure if it'll work but give it a try.

Sorry to say, that didn't work. I already have the frontpage set to the fronttemplate in joomla and I need it to be that template.
I did try the same thing for an item, and it did work, but I would have to do that for ever post (create a menu item for each post) That would be a major pain.
Do you have other ideas? Can i fix my problem by learning to do a k2 template?

Your issue doesn't have to do with K2 templating I'm afraid.
The thing is that you have 1 menu item to 1 category and you need two different joomla templates between the category listing and the item listings.
I did try myself the solution I recommended and it worked. You have to select multiple categories for your homepage menu and create another hidden menu towards the 1 category itself.
Could you please try again?

Thank you.

I'm having the same problem but it's only just started after I upgraded K2.

Now when you click on a frontpage article it opens in the frontpage instead of on it's own.

If the frontpage menu item is linked to one category, then its items will open in the same page. If you have multiple categories for your frontpage item you will have to also create for each category one menu item as well in order to avoid your items opening in the same page.
