Is it possible users contact each other by PMs (direct messages) through k2 user system?
Any free solution instead of joomsocial useful for this kind of situations?

i `ve been searching a lot about it and on my opinion the best solution is to install community builder and load on it uddeim which is a easy component to contact users through pms.

Would it synchornise users and show them on k2? (for exampe as editors of articles)

yes it synchronizes everything and has a very beautiful environment. I have replaced entirely the user page of k2 and i use the one of community builder. And of course the link of the author of the k2 item is linked (directed) to the profile of community builder
