Template: View all Categories and Items on page was created by Christopher Wilkinson
Hi,
I've been going through some of the documentation on creating custom templates and I've been able to do this to a certain extent. Especially on the css side, everything is going smoothly. unfortunately my knowledge of PHP is limited although I understand the concept.
Could someone tell me in which file I need to change the php, and what code exactly needs to be placed in order to get the structure as below? Also check this page (1st point), which show the same principle: Link Y-design Templating
I assume it's one loop within another loop (instead of the the seperate loops now, but please advise)
- CATEGORY A
-- SUB CATEGORY 1
--- Item 1 (from category 1)
--- Item 2 (from category 1)
--- Item 3 (from category 1)
-- SUB CATEGORY 2
--- Item 1 (from category 2)
--- Item 2 (from category 2)
--- Item 3 (from category 2)
The standard/current setup is:
Category A
--SUBCATEGORY1
--SUBCATEGORY 2
--- Item 1 (from category 1)
--- Item 2 (from category 1)
--- Item 3 (from category 1)
--- Item 1 (from category 2)
--- Item 2 (from category 2)
--- Item 3 (from category 2)
BIG THANKS!
Christopher

Hi Christopher,
The file you need to modify to do this is category.php.
As the guys from Y-designs say you need to change the subcategory loops and items loop to change the layout.
There are many lines to modify depending also if you are using leading, primary,etc.. views.
Let me know if you cant do it yourself.
Rgds

Hi, thanks for you quick reply!
Any support from you on this would be very much appreciated. I've added the category.php file as an attachment (which should be the standard one). Could you make the changes in there?
I can later put the original and the edited one side by side, to see how you managed to achieve it.
Many thanks in advance!
Regards,
Christopher
