The jQuery ColorBox does work fine. (Sorry, I'd missed it the first time I read your post!)

I'm wondering if there is also an option native to K2?

In the end I decided to try to push through on your Colorbox suggestion. I've only skirted around the edges of jquery before... so I figure it will be quite a challenge...! If I can wade through the learning curve though, I'm sure I'll be better off in the end. :)
