[SOLVED] Linking or embedding K2 Items

Hello,

Being new to Joomla and K2 I apologize in advance if this is a simple question. I have not been able to Google / find the answer and likely due to not knowing the proper search terms to use.

Joomla 2.5
K2 2.5.7

I have created a k2 category of say trainers. I have then created K2 items and linked them to the trainer category. These k2 items are bios. A picture and blurb of text.

All is well.

Now I have an "article" say about Physical Rehab. This is a K2 item linked to it's respective category. At the end of the "article" I want to embed / link a specific trainer bio rather than retype everything. Further if I make a correction it propagates.

Now when I say article above I don't think I am using the term in the Joomla context accurately.

I say this because my Google search terms led me to Article Anywhere plugin. I installed it thinking I had this beat....only it didn't work. When I went to embed a bio it wasn't there. Hardly anything was and I suspect this is due to my K2 items not being "articles"

So I'm not so worried about the plug-in as much as how can I go about linking, chaining, embedding etc. my k2 items so I don't have a bunch of repetitive content?

Thank You

Hello,

You can add to the article of Physical Rehab and the trainer you need to show below the article a specific tag. Then just enable the option Related items by tag in the Physical Rehab category's item settings and it will show.

Let me know if that worked for you.

OK I added a tag in K2 called BobJoePTSpecialist. I then went into the BobJones bio and added the tag to the K2 item.

I then went to the Programs category (programs is where articles like PhysRehab are at) and added the option Related items by tag and reduced it to 1 from 5.

Now....how do I establish the relationship? So I have my K2 item tagged with BobJoePTSpecialist. I have the Program category showing 1 related item. It seems to me somewhere in my PhysRehab item I would tell it the related item.

Perhaps {BobJoePTSpecialist} at the bottom of the content so it would show at the bottom?

There is no need to do anything more than you have already done. When you visit the Program item page you will see the related item by that tag below the content.

No...I don't see the related content below??...and I don't understand how I would.

I have created a tag. I have associated the tag with ONE K2 item.

How the OTHER K2 item knows there is a relationship there to be displayed I do not understand.

I'm sorry for being such a bother I'm just not making the connection you are trying to teach me.

Thank you for your continued patience.

I got it figured out shortly after my last message. It works as you said I just didn't quite have everything right.

Thank You again for the help.
