OK DUMB I know :sick: but I left a form open and it has generated hundred if not thousands of spam comments. I have been deleting them 100 at a time but then suddenly I have lost the comments access page.
Probably because I tried to set it to all!

Anybody a solution, either ftp back end or just anything.

:) OK solved, went to another computer logged in and the comments were there and could be deleted 100 at a time.

Once back onto my big one, logged in and out and refreshed the browser cache and it was there too.

Panic over... down to 3000 now!

You could also try through the database to remove the spam comments since they are so many.
