comments submit not working was created by Janet McFarlane
Hi there.

I am using K2 v2.6.7 with Joomla! 3.1.5 . In K2 parameters have enabled comments by everyone.

I can see the form and re-captcha OK, but when I hit submit nothing happens. I have also tried leaving one of the required fields empty but no error message comes up?

test site here

Can anyone help?

If you are using K2 template overrides try to disable them in order to check for yourself that the comments can be submitted then.

I did try it myself by putting in the URL ?template=system and it worked.

This means that you are having an issue within your overrides. If they were old try to compare the ones located in the component with the ones you have in order to locate your issue.

Hi, Thank you for your response.

I can see your test comments in my admin area.

Where would these overrides be?

And how did you use URL ?template=system, I have not seen this before?

All overrides are located in the template's folder. Check under templates/your_template/html/com_k2/

If you put the ?template=system right after any joomla page you will see that page with a clean style. As if no template is in use. That way you can check easily if your issues come from a template override or not.

Hi there,

I have got the comments form working now, thank you for your help.

However I cannot submit a comment as a registered user. I am getting the error 'The Name or Email Address you typed is already in use!'

I have set the 'reCaptcha for registered users' to Disabled.

I have also logged out from the rear end before trying to comment to test this, although that is a pain when you are checking submitted comments and want to reply!

As I want both unregistered and registered users to be able to comment and make return comments, is there another setting I have missed?

Normally, if you are a registered and logged in user, the name and email fields of the comments form are filled in automatically with no option to write anything to them.

Compare the item_comments_form.php file in components/com_k2/templates/default with item_comments_form.php file in templates/your_template/html/com_k2/default to see if there are any differences.
