I am desperate for HELP to resolve a new user Registration. The issue is that after submitting the registration page the registration fails in Joomla using K2 after MySQL upgrade to Version 5.1.72-cll

Do you use template overrides? If you do try to disable at leas the register.php file in them and check if you can register then.
When I registered from your page with the addition that I had disabled all templates and loading only the system template

Since you are getting a 404 page something is wrong in the redirect url. You need to check the register.php file between the K2 component and your overrides to see for any changes.
