How to simplify my (duplicated) categories was created by Tobias K.
Hi guys, I have a problem with a website which has very much categories and there are also duplicated categories... I will try to explain.
Category New Cars
- blue
- red
- yellow
- green
Category Used Cars
- blue
- red
- yellow
- green
Category Rental Vehicle
- blue
- red
- yellow
- green
The real categories are much more and deeper, but I hope this is enough to explain my problem.
So I need to show categorie views which shows:
- blue (3)
- red (1)
- yellow (8)
- green (2)
But for all 4 main categories and so I have the duplicated subcategories...
Is there any possibility to simlify this?
Like:
Show me all categorys but only with the parameter "New Cars" (as a Tag or an extra field?)
But I really need the normal categorie (and subcategories) view! But as you see, the same subcategories for all the main categories.
Any ideas?

In the attachment you can see the real categories! And these categories are duplicated 4 times... Only for this view, but for New, Used and so one trailers.
Greetings
Tobi

What it you used the featured option for your new cars? Would that help you narrow down your results from all categories?

Unfortunately not...
I need this subcategories for at least 4 more maincategories... New Cars, Used Cars, Cars for Rent and so on. They all have the same subcategories and I need the categorie tree view vor them.
I think theres no solution :-/ So I have to use de duplicated categories.
What I need is a function like:
Show me all articles in this category and all subcategories but only with the tag "new cars"... That would be so awesome!

I'm afraid that is not possible. You can filter through multiple categories, use the latest items by category and fetch the category blocks you want, filtering by tags or by extra fields are all possible but not the one you are referring to.
If your structure was different maybe something could be done to fetch the results you needed. Items of course, not categories but still.
