I am running Joomla 3.X with:

JomSocial
JomSocial Socialize
JomSocial ProfileTypes
JCE

I installed K2 for the capabilities it has with Article content and see that it has a menu for users and user groups. In watching tutorial videos, it's my understanding that I need to import previously published/created Joomla Articles and Categories. I believe this will not be an issue. (I have yet to test, though).

But I am concerned about importing Users and Groups since these are critical to how JomSocial/JomSocial ProfileTypes supports my site. With a quick test, it appears that I can just leave Users alone--not importing them and that there is no option to import User Groups anyway. So anything I create in K2 for User Groups is only local to your component.

Is that right? Do you have any guidance you can provide specific to this setup?

Hi. K2 user groups are different from Joomla! user groups. They are used mainly for front-end editing. If you do not need this, there is no reason to import users.
