I have a question, is there any possibility that the sub category boxes/images can be responsive like when we resize the website not make them smaller but put them underneath the top images. If i have a 4 subcategory for example is it possible when a mobile user enter site read the 4 top items by scrolling and not all the sub categories in one page.

Yes, it is possible with template overrides, not sure about artisteer, but i did before with bootstrap.

You need to check how it's done using your template and apply it to category.php and category_item.php file. You probably need to remove some divs or rename them to suit your template's responsive properties.
