Something's wrong with your Joomla installation. If this is a local website (seems to be), try re-installing Joomla 3.2.3 on top of it. Use CMS Update from AkeebaBackup.com to do that. Then update K2.

Same here.
Win2k8 + latest apache 2.2.x, mysql 5.6.x, php 5.3.x
Never had problems before. Just this release.
It installs on my dev server (mac OSX 10.9).
Maybe it's something related to PHP?
Joomla 3.2.3.

Anyone having problems installing/updating K2 please check your directory permissions. You can do this by navigating to "System" -> "System Information" in administration area.

Same issue with me. Had a number of other extensions which installed fine, but not K2. All folders set to writeable.

@laweffect
Go to "Extensions Manager" -> "Warnings" and see if there are any messages there.
