K2 produces a lot of images' sizes such as L, M, S, XL, XS in folder media/k2/item/cache. What should I do to limit or change it?

Will managers of k2 change something in next k2 version to fix this problem? I think this is the popular problem because I searched on the Internet and saw many people want to know how to change this.

The upcoming version 3 of K2 has an option for generated image sizes: getk2.org/blog/1792-k2-v268-released-whats-coming-in-v270-a-v3-update. For current version you can hack K2 but you will lose your changes in future updates. The file that is generating the thumbnails is administrator/components/com_k2/models/item.php.
