Hello all!

i am trying to do something that i think an "auto featured" ... feature will fit like bread and butter. but have no idea how to do it..... :blink: (and can't find any relative plug in)

what i have :
- website with subscriptions
- got several authors
- got 1 k2 category for each author to write articles
- one menu item (locked for registered) for each category (blog style, showing only one article though)
- a k2 content module to shows in clickable titles only the rest articles of each category

what i want to do :
1. make only the most recent article from each category available for registered users. all previous articles i want them public (now everything is only for registered)
2. each menu button to show directly the most recent article and not via a blog style page (cause right now i have double pages, worse seo and no hits counter)


So, i am thinking that if i could make an article go "featured" as soon as it is written - and the previous go un-featured at the same time - i could make:
- public menu items linking to articles from category that are not featured
- registered menu items linking to featured only articles
- same way with the module

so questions time....
- is my thinking correct?
- is there any plugin doing something like that?
- can you see any other better way that i don't?

Hi. This is a very special workflow. The only way to do this is develop ( or find ) a K2 plugin. The plugin could be triggered on saving of new items and perform the operations you want. However i am not aware of such a plugin.

yes that is what i was thinking... unfortunately. on the other hand it is just a "trigger" that solves many problems and gives incredible new abilities to the user

anyway i will come back with new findings, if any

meanwhile i am suggesting the "auto featured" as a new k2 feature for the releases to come :cheer:

It is not just a trigger... The trigger is already there provided by K2 plugin events. What's left is to implement your logic in a plugin.

yep, my bad i forgot the trigger exist in the developers language.
anyways i will provide any findings in the matter as i go on with it

could there be a way to save k2 items from certain categories
1. as featured by default
or
2. with different access level than public by default ?

The answer is still the same for the new questions: You need a plugin to handle your custom logic. There is no way to do this without writing a custom plugin.
