Menu K2 Category Item was created by Anders Ewaldz
I'm running K2 v2.6.8 on Joomla 3.3.1 and ran into a problem when creating a new Menu item for K2-Category. Menu links created in an earlier version (about one year ago) look like this

index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=category&task=category&id=3

but when I create a new one the same way I cannot seem to chose which category to display. The link created is

index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=category

which lacks the "task" and "id" parameters. It is possible to surf to the link created in the earlier version, and it also works when substituting the id number. What I cannot manage is to tell Joomla which category to look for, since the link field is gray.

Could there be some sort of setting I am missing, or is this a bug in the v2.6.8 release?

regards,

I managed to solve it, using a workaround:

In backend, administrating menu items, I opened the menu item for a category that lacks the connection with a category. Using built-in tools in Google Chrome I identified the input boxes called "jform_request_task" and "jform_request_id". Both these where "hidden", but I changed them to "text", giving me the opportunity to add the word "category" for the first one and the category number I identified to the other one, in the web form.

This seems to work perfectly, but is a bit awkward for general users to do.

Why don't you enable SEF urls instead?

I don't see how that would help. The link still does not include GET parameters task and id. Anyway, the site is already configured to use SEF, so the URL is neat, without GET parameters, but the new links don't work without the workaround described earlier.

You do not need to hack any URLs. K2 will do that automatically.
All you need to do is enter a title, select the category and optionally change the alias.
