I'm not what I changed, but for some reason articles (items) display without modules in other positions... only the article (item) displays. When a reader clicks "read more" I want them to see the article (item) with modules such as facebook / twitter streams, advertising, etc. just like they show in categories screens.

Click on any of the articles (items) to see that the modules no longer show. How do I configure them to show in the full article screen?

To have proper control over your modules you need to map your content into menu items.
Pretty much this means that you should map each K2 Category in a menu item.

This way you can choose which module appears in which category and its items.

My items are mapped to a category and categories are mapped in a menu. This allows items to display in the category screen and allows you to click on "read more" to open the item to a full item view, which is where the problem is.

This is a template issue so unfortunately I cannot assist you.
Since your menu structure is ok, you should address this issue to the template developer.
