[SOLVED] Different permissions per category

I would like ALL "Registered" users to be able to add items, edit own items, post comments to the category "Members blog" but also be able to ONLY post comments in the category "News".
From the User Groups page I can see that the permissions for a User Group can only be assigned to one category... Is that normal? Not very flexible, really.
Anything I am missing here?
Kind regards,
Manos K

you can assign group permissions to different categories (in "user group > Assign group permissions to these categories > Select from list).

Hello, probably I wasn't too clear. I have one User Group and two different categories. I need different permissions for each category (ie, Registered user should be able to add items AND comments to one category but only post comments to the other)

Yes, you are right! What I meant is that I can't have different permissions for different categories for any selected K2 User Group. Ie, allow commenting on one category but allow both commenting AND adding items in another.

The next major release will have different permissions per category.

well, from what I understand the v3.0 is not going to be launched before September or later. I guess that the only other solution is JQuery and enabling/disabling options, right?

You can query the db, get the user's group and show or hide the comment form.
The other options can be handled I think from K2's User Groups.

Since there is only one category that Registered users are allowed to add new items (while they can comment to this and others as well), what I did is hide the select category options completely and pass the catid in a hidden option. Ugly but works... untill v3.0 is out!
