I'm working on a project that makes use of the Finish Publishing date. What I'm curious about is if it's actually possible to make K2 Unpublish the item after the date, instead of just the default Expire?

For this project, I also have a calendar running that pulls K2 items, but when the date has passed, it still shows up in the calendar (even though expired), and when you click on the item, you get a 404, which makes sense, as the item isn't there anymore.

Which version of Joomla! and K2 are you using?
The calendar by default checks the publish expire date as well.

Joomla is running the second last version (didn't update last week or whenever that 3.3.3 came out) and K2 2.6.8. The calendar running is actually B2J Calendar, so it's very much third party. This was pretty much due to functionality it has that K2 doesn't. The problem is that the calendar module still caches the fact something happened on that date, and when you click it, it's a 404 due to being expire. So, for me, a logical workaround would be to see if I could make these items auto-unpublish, instead of auto-expire, if that can be achieved.

I think you should contact the folks at B2J about this issue.
They will address this issue with their extension.
