When I click on an author it shows most of each article. How can I have it where when an author is clicked on it shows a thumbnail image, the title, and the category.

Hi. Go to K2 parameters and look out for the "Layout & view options for user (author) pages" section. There you will find all the available elements you can show/hide in a user page.
