Is there any way to list the (5) newest articles in a module position?
Something like the K2 content module but not shown ion main content area.
I have a column right of the main content area, where I actually show the category list and the archive. Now I want to add a new module as same as the regular Joomla latest articles module.

The K2 Content module is the one you should use.
Simply create a new instance, choose the appropriate template and publish it in your desired position.

this is what I already tried. But this shows the complete article in my specific position. But I want just the article titles (as a link) to be shown, same as the category list.

It is not the position that shows the elements.
You need to change the module's settings.

The settings of the module are quire explanatory. Example:
Introtext (Hide/Show). This is where you control if you want to show or hide the introtext. The same goes for the rest element.
