K2 article ordering issue was created by Ramy MASSARANI (bonne id)
I have k2 articles displaying by categories on my homepage. I also have a link for each category that sends back to all the articles from that particular category.
For some reason, the page that displays all articles from a chosen category does not display the articles in the order I chose to. I'd like to have them from oldest to most recent. Any other setting works fine except for the one I need to use.

K2 category settings is set to "most recent first (by publication date)"

Module is set to "Most recent first" in "Item ordering"

Are there any other setting I am omitting?

Thanks you!

Hello Ramy.

If your menu item retrieves items from multiple categories, then the menu item's ordering will be respected.

If it retrieves items from only one category then the category's settings will be respected.

Same problem here. There is no way to order items the way I want to. Category and menu are set to "ordering". I drag and drop the item to order, but in the front-end the articles appear randomly ordered. When I go back in the admin panel, the order I set is messed up.

The only way I found to resolve the problem is manually edit the 'fetaured_ordering' column in the database. Absurd.

I can't believe this big big issue isn't fixed yet.

I have same issue w/ latest versions of Joomla and K2. No matter which ordering options at the category level I pick, the results on the category page for the articles seem to come by by ID order, newest at the top. I'd like to have the order for the single category page based on how I want to order them from the items list filtered by each individual category without having to use the featured items parameter. Over in the Joomla articles area this works fine from a category view, why not in K2?

Hello Andrew,
Could you backup and retry with the 2.7 DEV version?

We're still having this problem. Using Joomla 3.4.5 and K2 v 2.6.9

This seems to a long term, unresolved issue.

It is not unresolved. 90% of the cases are setup issues and on other occasion there is a JS error or the server response is not made on a timely manner.

You need to double check your category's settings and make sure that the category is not inheriting its settings from another category.

Furtnermore you need to disable error reporting since a PHP notice (it can be unrelated to K2 ) can 'break' the response.

Finally if you want to use ordering in a multi category view, you need to use Featured ordering instead.

When set to Featured ordering we still have the same problem. It appears we may have the other 10% issue—the DB/JS error
