I have recently started using k2 for blogging on my site.

When I tried to use the advanced sef setting 'Prefix for date (and tag) listings URLs', it worked as desired until I turned on site sh404sef. They basically just fall back to the default '/date/' and '/tag/'.

Would appreciate any insight/advice on this.

This setting is applied when the core K2 advanced SEF is enabled. When you are using SH404SEF these settings will not work since SH404SEF is now responsible for the links generation.

Thank you very much for the reply.

We need the sh404sef to work with the rest of site urls. We have been using it for many years with lost custom urls from joomla 1.0. Does this mean we are not able to use k2 sef at all?

Once sh404sef is enabled for K2, the sh404sef 's settings are respected.
There are settings that you can tweak in order to get the URLs you want.
