Hi,

I bet you can tell that I'm busy learning how to use K2 these days, hope you'll find the time to answer yet another quesion from me ;)

I have a setup with main categories and sub categories (levels 1 and 2). Only the sub categories are intended to have items; the main categories are for structure/navigation purposes only.

I want to set up two menu items for K2:
- A LatestItems view on the Home page of the site;
- A categories view deeper inside the site

Now on the LatestItems view I would like to accomplish this:
- I want to show the titles and images of the main categories
- Below each main category I want to show the 5 latest items, selected from all sub categories of these main categories. I mean the 5 latest from all sub categories together, not 5 from each sub category.
- I do not want to show the titles of the sub categories, just the items.
- So basically I want to skip the sub categories, as if the items were directly in the main category.

And on the categories view I'd like to show:
- On the top level: all main categories with their sub categories listed;
- On the second level: all sub categories of a main category with 5 most recent items listed;
- On the third level: all items within a sub category.

I cannot find a way to create this with K2 yet. I'm wondering if it is possible at all, or if I'm just missing the point of how to do this.

Kind regards,
Frits

Hi. Out of the box K2 views are displaying specific data. You can take a look at the K2 demo site at demo.getk2.org/ to see what K2 can do without customization. You need to take a look at all the options in the views. Alternatively you can try to build what you need using modules. However, what you want to do with the latest view cannot be done. You need a custom view or module for that.

Hi Lefteris,

Thanks for your reply. After some research I think that my needs for the Latest view may be solved by using several instanced of the K2 Content module. I hope to report here later.
